Over the next few months, for the very first time, the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) in the Netherlands will start offering tissue-specific stem cell transplants to cancer patients who are at risk of a dry mouth after radiotherapy. The research group led by UMCG Professor of Radiotherapy Rob Coppes demonstrated that salivary gland stem cell transplants can help this group of patients.
